Summer Fun Mosaic District

Spending sizzlin’ summer fun will seem like a breeze! Summers are hot and humid in Northern Virginia. However, there are plenty of ways to keep cool without leaving town. Mosaic District is the ideal spot for summer fun and adventure! It offers a plethora of shopping, dining, and family-friendly entertainment.

About Mosaic: Plans for Expansion

Located on the border of Fairfax and Falls Church in the heart of Merrifield, VA, Mosaic District is a huge success due to its “live, work, play” community appeal. Currently, residents stroll the streets of Merrifield to enjoy shopping, dining, and entertainment without having to venture far from home. Luxury apartments and town homes line the streets, along with retail, dining, and office spaces. Notably, Mosaic is within walking distance from the Dunn Loring Metro station which contributes to its urban feel. Most recently, a developer announced plans to expand Mosaic District into a $100 million mixed-use community. According to the Washington Business Journal, Retail Properties of America Inc. purchased 8 acres of an adjacent shopping center that will be the “final piece in the puzzle in creating a walkable-transit community.” Fortunately, you don’t have to live in Mosaic District to enjoy all that it has to offer!

Shopping and Dining

First, Mosaic District is known for its eclectic mix of local businesses and large retail stores. Literally, there is something for everyone and every budget! Stores such as Target, Great Gatherings, and Williams Sonoma share retail space with small boutiques like Muse Paint Bar, Dawn Price Baby, and Fair Trade Winds. Muse Paint Bar provides a creative outlet for artistic expression while enjoying food and drink. It’s also a great spot for date nights and kids’ parties! Dawn Price Baby offers unique gifts, toys, and clothes for your littlest family members; and Fair Trade Winds sells hand-made products by artists from around the world. Additionally, Mom’s Organic Market means that shoppers don’t have to leave the district to get their groceries. Organic, local, and sustainably sourced foods are readily available, making healthy eating easier.

Second, dining at Mosaic District is appealing for diverse palettes. Where to Eat and Drink in Merrifield/Mosaic District is an excellent resource for the best restaurants in Mosaic. Some of our favorites include Ted’s Bulletin, True Foods Kitchen, and Matchbox. For the best brunch in town, check out Ted’s Bulletin – an upscale all-American diner known for their homemade pop tarts. Healthful eating considered, True Food Kitchen is an excellent choice for a variety of diets, including gluten-free and vegan options. Plus, they make delicious fresh-squeezed juices! Lastly, we enjoy Matchbox for their cozy atmosphere, brick oven pizzas, and red wines.

Entertainment: Summer Fun Mosaic District

Most importantly, Mosaic District’s unique draw is its focus on family-friendly entertainment. According to Mosaic developers quoted in the Washington Business Journal, “It’s about creating an experience. We create the canvas and the opportunity and the excitement to get people there.” Certainly, they have done just that! This summer, check out what’s happening in Mosaic’s Strawberry Park. Finding summer fun at Mosaic District has never been so easy! Here is a list of FREE things to do at Mosaic District:
