About 20 miles west of our nations capital lies the Kings Park West community in Fairfax County. It was built by Richmarr Construction, a powerhouse developer in our area responsible for over 50 large commercial and residential projects. Construction on KPW began in the late 1960’s and lasted through the mid 70’s, eventually totaling over 1,850 single family homes and cementing itself as one of the largest communities in the county. Popular among families(kids can walk to elementary-college with nearby George Mason University) and professionals alike, the area boasts shopping centers, recreation, and entertainment at venues such as Eagle Bank Arena which make it easy not to leave the community. The developers displayed their appreciation for English culture with street names such as Commonwealth, Gainsborough, and Pomphrey as well as the homes themselves, which include the King, Queen, Prince as well as other titles of English nobility. It is interesting to note however, that the ranks of nobility are flipped in this community, as the smallest home model is the King model while the largest home model is the Baron model!
