Annandale, Virginia is rich with history dating back to the pre-Revolutionary period, when Englishman Col. William Fitzhugh purchased 24,000 acres of untamed wilderness and converted it into one of the largest tobacco plantations in Northern Virginia. With the development of the Little River Turnpike in 1806 came increased traffic and industrialization. By 1830, a majority of the tobacco plantation had been broken into smaller sects and sold to farmers from the North, who brought with them new farming techniques, that in turn increased the vitality of this once sleepy town.

Today, Annandale is home to over 40,000 residents and is an area coveted by commuters due to its location inside the Capital Beltway.  This community does more than just work, enjoying any of the 28 parks within the city bounds, as well as a huge recreation center, public library and well-known Norther Virginia Community College campus. Housing styles in Annandale vary as much as the prices, boasting a little something for everyone. If you’re looking for easy commuting options, diverse dining experiences, and great schools, Annandale is for you.
